Kbiki [keibiki] is an attempt to combine Knowledge Base system with a power and flexibility of Wiki.

What makes Kbiki different?

  • Content is available every time, everywhere and for everybody across the Internet!
  • A number of contributors can work on the same content simultaneously.
  • All content consists of pages which are stored in knowledge spaces with granular security. All pages are linked with each other so no need to scroll huge solid documents!
  • Kbiki provides WYSIWYG content editing without any alternative formatting Wiki-style constructions.
  • Kbiki WYSIWYG editor has integrated spell checker.
  • A set of processing instructions such as programming code highlighting (almost any known language), pulling page content from remote Kbiki sitescoming soon, page TOC generation, FAQs TOC generation and others can be used to facilitate content editing and improve its look and feel.
  • Each page is under version control and can be rolled-back to any previous version. A difference between page revisions can be easily displayed.
  • Entire content is indexed and searchable with free-text and boolean queries. Search results are ranked and highlighted.
  • All pages are dynamically categorized by tags edited by site readers.

  • Kbiki provides a number of RSS feeds for content updates monitoring.

Kbiki is actively used by DotNetPanel Software itself and it can be seen in action!

In order to play with Kbiki you can download Kbiki Express Edition and install it on your server.

System Requirements

Kbiki does not require any specific environment and it can be run on practically any Windows shared hosting.

The most important thing is that Kbiki works in ASP.NET "Medium" trust environments!

Your server should have installed the following software and features:

  • .NET Framework 2.0
  • IIS 6.0 or IIS 7.0 with ASP.NET 2.0 enabled
  • Indexing Services (is a part of Windows, can be installed through "Add/Remove Windows Components")
  • SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP1 (can be downloaded here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65109) or higher
  • Installed SQL Server 2005 "Full-Text Search" feature
